Ocean Voices helps people to use their own voices for the benefit of their ocean communities, and it builds partnerships that connect local voices to international policy. Synchronicity Earth’s Ocean Programme supports the initiative to achieve these aims.
Ocean Voices champions individuals, providing professional development opportunities, including mentoring, training in ocean law and policy, research support, practical skills development, and a tailored professional development Fellowship programme.
Also, the initiative advances knowledge by supporting Fellows and others in conducting original research projects that amplify under-represented voices and establish clear pathways for policy influence.
Furthermore, the programme fosters knowledge exchange on international ocean policy and builds collaborative networks to amplify impact through conversation series and research dialogues that bridge cultural, disciplinary, and geographic boundaries.
Programme values are centred on ocean stewardship, equity and justice, and effective conservation based on knowledge. Its goal is not to elevate its own brand or take a position in negotiations, but to provide the enabling tools to outstanding individuals to have their own impact.
