Minh Nguyen is a PhD student at Colorado State University, working to create solutions for the snaring crisis that endangers many ground-dwelling mammals in the Annamites. Minh focuses a large proportion of her work on the critically endangered large-antlered muntjac, found only in the Annamite Mountain range. With the threat of illegal wildlife trade, Minh’s work is crucial in preventing the extinction of the species and has founded the “Mammal Study Group” at the University of Sciences in Vietnam to make a significant impact on wildlife awareness in the region.

Additionally, Minh Nguyen focuses on engaging park rangers and decision-makers to take effective conservation actions to protect the large-antlered muntjac. Working to mobilise action and create awareness within the protected areas, both at the government and local community level to broadly highlight the species, she is calculating the number of snares to be removed by law enforcement teams to ensure the survival of the remaining muntjac population.
